MEIKLE, Janice (\"Jan\") Lynne January 11, 1949 - August 8, 2010 It is with the deepest sorrow and sadness that the family of Jan Meikle, our sister, daughter, mother, grandmother, and aunt, announces her sudden passing on August 8th, 2010, at the age of 61 at her home in North Vancouver. Jan grew up in Nanaimo, B.C., graduating from Nanaimo Senior Secondary School in 1966. Later, in 1990, Jan went to Capilano College, taking the two year paralegal program, graduating With Honours, achieving Dean\'s List in each of the 4 semesters, while also being honoured as the Class Valedictorian. Jan is survived by her mother, Muriel, her brother, Kevin and his wife June, her children, Ja Lynn (and her husband Tim), Angela and Bruce, her grandchildren, Payton Muriel and Kianna Marie, her niece Alana and her Aunt Dolly. Particular thanks goes to Dr. John Corey, of Caulfield Village Medical Clinic, and the staff at Lions Gate General Hospital for their compassionate care during Jan\'s recent illnesses. Also, to Randall Godden and Mae\'s Graces (a group of Nanaimo \"girls\" who have been her friends for over fifty years ) for their unwavering friendship and support for Jan during difficult stretches in Jan\'s life. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to celebrate her life, which will be held Wednesday, August 18th, 2010 at 2:00 pm at First Memorial Boal Chapel, 1505 Lillooet Road, North Vancouver, B.C. A reception will follow immediately. A further service will be held Friday, August 20th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Brechin United Church in the Fellowship Hall at 1998 Estevan Road, Nanaimo B.C. LOIS EVE METCALFE (Lawford) of Camrose,
Alberta formerly of Victoria, BC passed away on Thursday, August 5th, 2010 at the age of 86 years.

Lois was born in Smiths Falls, Ontario on October 18th, 1923. After attending business college in Smiths Falls, Lois served as a cipher clerk in the RCAF for the duration of WW 2 during which time she met her future husband, Fred Metcalfe. She and Fred were married on February 16th, 1946. Lois was employed as a stenographer at various air bases until Fred left the Air Force in 1972 and they retired to Victoria, BC. In May of 1999 Lois moved to Camrose, AB to live with her son Stewart and daughter-in-law Jackie.

Lois is predeceased by her husband Fred, and sisters, Ruth and Rheda.

She is survived by brother Bill (Robbie) Lawford of Hawkesbury, Ontario, son Stewart (Jackie) Metcalfe of Camrose, Alberta, and granddaughters Jennifer (Andrew) Walmsley of Camrose, Alberta and Melissa (Matthew) Algeo of Calgary, Alberta.

As per Lois\'s wishes, no funeral service will be held.

Mom died at her home of 49 years as she wanted to. Our brother Kelly promised Mom she could stay in her house on
Atkins Rd. and he was determined to keep this promise. He did this with the help of his brother Grant, and
recently, friends Michelle and Miriam. Our Dad Doug Mckeown, died June 9, 1993. Mom and Dad are survived by their children, Danial (Susan), Grant, Kelly, Maxine (Alex), Tonia (Ron),
12 Grandchildren, 3 Great Grandchildren
and Mom\'s brother Pred, (Edith) Morgan. For years Mom went to the \"Lake\" to party with Doug and he rest of the gang and that is what they will do one last time.
Please join us at the \"Lake\" for a Irish send off for Mom and Dad.

GRAY, LYNNE (Roberta) 68 years, longtime resident of the Western Communities passed peacefully June 4, 2010, after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Lynn is survived by her daughter Judi Kershaw, son in law Chris, grandson, Rob Gray & great grand son Sylis Gray in Red Deer, AB. Her son Bill Gray, daughter in law Kelly and grand-daughter Alycia of Victoria, BC. She is also survived by her sister Janet & brother in law Bill Gilbert, brother Rick and sister in law Wendy Watt and family.

She will be sorely missed by her best friend Rhona Machan of Victoria, BC.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Victoria Cancer Clinic as well as the attending physicians.

There will be no formal service. A celebration of Lynne\'s life will be held at 2854 Carlow Road on Sunday, June 13, 2010 from 12noon to 3pm.

In lieu of flowers a donation to the Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Wayne Gordon Jones was born June 8th, 1947 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and passed away April 25, 2010 in Chilliwack, B.C. He is survived by his 2 sons James and Dwayne, daughter Cindy and 3 grandchildren; Zachary, Colby and Wyatt.

Wayne served 26 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. He belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion and the Army, Navy and Air Force Club.

There was a Memorial Service held on Friday May 7th, 2010 at The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 280, 5661 Vedder Road, Chilliwack, B.C.

At the age of 50 years passed away at his home in the Highlands surrounded by his family. He leaves his wife,
Darlene married 29 years, daughter Crystal Percival (Gordon
Percival); grandson,
Asher; and daughter Breanne McLennan
(Colten Ellison); sister, Gerry Stearns; mother and father-in-law, Ted and Janet Ross;
sisters-in-law, Charlene Barrett and Debbie Brinacomb; brothers-in-law, Jack Nickolichuk; Sean Barrett, and Pete Brinacomb. Ken was predeceased by his
parents Brian and Hilda McLennan and sister Mary-Jane Nickolichuk.

Special thanks are
extended to Ken’s
co-workers at the Base Construction Engineering CFB Esquimalt as well as the staff and doctors at the Victoria Cancer Clinic, especially Dr. Catherine Fitzgerald. We would like to
acknowledge the help and support given to us from our family, friends and co-workers throughout this journey.

MAVIS BARBARA Woodrow Walsh March 30, 1939 - January 13, 2010 It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother Mavis Barbara Woodrow Walsh. Mavis was born at Paddington Hospital and raised with her brothers (William, Terry, Samuel) in London, England. After immigrating to Canada Mavis married Robert James Walsh (November 07, 1940 - July 5, 2000 ) and created a family of three daughters; Susan (Joel) Branchaud, Karen (Edward) Wormald, Patricia Patrick (Rob Snyder), and four grandchildren; Carl Beshara, Tiffany Beshara, Jared Walsh, Michael Patrick. We would like to thank those who assisted the family in the last years of her life , Dr. Mestelman, Susan Neufeldt from elderly outreach, Cec, Donna, Sharon, and Linda from Memorial Pavilion at Jubilee hospital, and a special thank you to Dr.Michelle Fretz and her staff for always having the time for mum. At the family\'s\' request there will be no service, family and friends will have a celebration at a later date

Passed on January 3rd, 2010 in Victoria Hospice RJH from complications of ALS. He lived a fulfilling life and was firm in the idea that he’d done all he wanted to do in this life. He will be greatly missed by both family and friends. Please in lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the ALS Society of BC. A Memorial Service will be held at McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Streets on Friday January 15, 2010 at 2:00 pm.

Vic Peters, a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend passed December 31st, 2009 in Victoria, BC. He is survived by his mother Isabelle Peters, sister Patricia Kennedy, nieces Vanessa and Janelle, and nephews Fernando and Nicklaus. A memorial service will be held in his hometown of London, Ontario in the spring.
Vic’s life revolved around music, particularly the music of Jimi Hendrix. Over the years he came know Jimi’s sister Janie and was an avid collector of Hendrix memorabilia and wrote many articles on Jimi’s life and times.
Friends could always find Vic at Harpo’s Cabaret in the 90’s, catching up with visiting musicians/friends he had interviewed while hosting a radio show during his studies at Fanshawe College in London.
Vic’s family and friends would like to thank the nurses and staff at the RJH Renal Unit for caring for him so well over the years!
He was loved by many and will be missed.
Donations are gratefully being accepted by the Victoria Hospital Foundation, RJH Renal Unit in Vic’s honour.
