He was a Volunteer Fire Fighter of the Seabird Island Fire Department for 18 years. He graduated from Agassiz Secondary School in 2000. Daniel loved spending his summers up at the Pettis family fish camp in Yale. He also enjoyed playing baseball and soccer. Howard was greatly loved by all of his extended family and friends. <br>Born March 18, 1923 in Madera, California and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. He married LaVonne Anderson on August 2, 1944 and recently celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary. He served as Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII in India. Howard and LaVonne moved from Richmond, CA, USA, to Hope, BC, Canada in 1971 and built their dream home on Silver Creek. Howard was a member in good standing with IBEW Local 302 and 213 for 65 years, and worked for Hope Electric until retirement. He was devoted to his family, friends, neighbours as well as his community. He was a charter member of the Flood, Laidlaw, Silver Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Howard was a dedicated Fire Chief from 1981 - 1989 and remained a member for 37 years. Awarded the Queens Medal for Exemplary Service in 1993. He also served with Hope Crime Prevention Society/Citizens on Patrol. <br>A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, August 21 at 1:00 PM at the Royal Canadian Legion Hall, Hope BC. Marilyn was born January 4, 1937 in Watrous, Saskatchewan and completed her grade twelve. Marilyn joined Saskatchewan Government Telephones and it was there she met Eldon Stein and they were married January 30, 1958. They had two children, Sandra and Glen. Eldon joined BC Tel in 1966 and they lived in Trail, B.C. In 1974 Eldon was transferred to Boston Bar. Marilyn was employed by Canada Post and eventually became Postmistress for 25 years until her retirement. In 2006 Marilyn moved to Hope, B.C. to be near family. Marilyn was caring, kind and always there to help someone. Marilyn had many hobbies: sewing, ceramics, needlework, crocheting and doing crafts. Marilyn met Ron Leger in 2008 and they resided together until her passing. She was predeceased by her Father and Mother, Cosmos and Hilda Spani, and husband, Eldon Stein.  <br>Marilyn was a loving and caring mother to Sandra Richmond (Paul), son Glen (Yvette), her beloved grandchildren, Kyle and Kraig Jones. She had a love of travel and enjoyed exploring this great province of ours whether with her husband or her second family the Pythian sisters. Of all the things she loved they were soon replaced by the greatest things ever: Grandchildren. He was predeceased by: his first wife, Aileen; brothers, Irvine, Willie and Roy; and his sister, Margaret. <br>Norman is survived by his loving family: wife, Louise; son, Jim (Kathaleen); step children, Ron(Rene), Dennis(Shelley) and Ken(Ruby); grand children, Lindsey, Matthew and Jamie; step grand children, Stacey and Dane; great grandchild, Christian; 2 step great grandchildren; brother, Vern; sisters, Lela and Betty. <br>Norman served in the Canadian Army in WWII rising to the rank of Sergeant. After the war, he logged and saw milled with his 4 brothers. Eventually he started Canyon Cable, a successful logging supply business in Hope. As a carpenter and woodworker he built countless treasures for his friends and family.
