She was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, the eldest of six children.
She is survived by her children: Larry (Darlene) Federink, Joyce (Harold) Penner, Keith (Lisa) Federink, Arnold (Brenda) Federink and Doug Jones; grandchildren: Amanda (Marlin), Amelia, Lawrence, Dana (Wilmer), Aleacia (Jacques), Sidnee, Marlee, Mathew (Melinda), Andrew, Jared; great granddaughter Lena Mae. Three sisters; Lucille (Charlie) Belsham, Marlene McLeod, Donna Moleski, brother John Chapman and numerous beloved relatives and close friends.
Connie was predeceased by her father and mother, Floyd and Hilda Chapman; brother Bud Chapman; companion Ray Maas; good friend Peter Federink and grandson Jason Gardiner.
Connie loved the outdoors, sunshine, warm and short winters; fresh fruit and vegetables, water, beaches, animals and wonderful people; so naturally she settled easily into the Salmon Arm area 15 years ago. Connie was known for her love and care for the wellbeing of others. This was expressed through her passion for Body Management; it allowed her to utilize her gifts and abilities to offer relief to those suffering from pain.
Connie loved to travel - gypsy, road runner and vagabond were labels she wore with a smile. She needed little or no excuse at all to set off on a road trip. Connie also had the instincts of a survivor which were probably honed by her love of camping and living off of the land. Her children and grandchildren well remember the dandelion and bulrush meal experiments, as well as the medicinal concoctions made from herbs and weeds.
She loved God with all her heart. This love for God translated into her love for others – to whom she gave freely of all she had. Her faith in God and prayer sustained her through the many trials and difficulties of her life. Despite life’s upheavals, Connie loved to laugh; her tee-hee’s and giggles will live on in the memories of all those who knew her. She loved nothing better than to visit with family and friends while sipping a hot drink.
Connie was one of a kind. She was loved by all who knew her.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude for your support and sharing in their time of need. Grateful thanks to Dr. DeWet and the medical staff at the Shuswap Lake General Hospital.
Arrangements entrusted to FISCHER’S FUNERAL SERVICES & CREMATORIUM LTD., Salmon Arm, 250-833-1129. He was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Nettie, son Meno in 1968, and all but one of his eight siblings. George was born January 29, 1912 in Rhineland, Man. where, raised on the farm, he became a farmer and jack of all trades and master of all. There too, he met, and in 1934, married Nettie Heinrichs and together began raising their 5 children. In 1952 George and Nettie left the security of their life in Manitoba to take up a homestead near Vanderhoof where he and some partners attempted to create a farm out of pine-covered bush. There he gained a wide and deserving reputation as a mechanic and fixer of all things broken. His creed became, “If it worked once it will work again.” George and Nettie also lived subsequently in the Okanagan, in Clearbrook, and at Chimney
Lake. Following the death of Nettie in 2004, George moved to Williams Lake where at age 93 he courted and married Jessie Pawliski. Their time together was short but very happy with lots of travel and every minute spent together. George was a man of insatiable curiosity and never lost his intense interest in the world around him. He was a man of simple but deep faith, whose word could always be trusted, and whose friendship was valued by all who knew him.
A memorial service was held in Williams Lake on July 12,
2010.
