margin-bottom: 1em; min-height:110px;\"> 			It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of retired Staff Sergeant R.T. (Torry) Small on August 30, 2010 after a battle with cancer. He was in his 69th year. <br>Torry was born in Vancouver on May 21, 1942. He was predeceased by parents Robert E. and Alva Mary Small of Cultus Lake, BC.  <br>Torry joined the RCMP ‘E’ Division in 1962 and dedicated 30 years to ‘The Force’ enjoying a distinguished career investigating and solving serious crimes and cold cases. While stationed in Alberta, among other duties he was called on to personally bodyguard many world leaders and dignitaries, including Prince Charles, Bobby Kennedy, Indira Ghandi, and Pierre Trudeau. <br>He transferred to Chilliwack, BC in 1980 with his children. It was then he met his wife Lois and her children. While in the Chilliwack Detachment Torry was the Sergeant in charge of GIS, the serious crimes unit. The Officers in his unit looked to him for guidance and treated him with due respect.  <br>After retirement from the RCMP in 1992, Torry, his wife Lois and daughter Kim moved to Princeton, BC. Torry served on the board of Princeton & District Community Services for 17 years, utilizing his skills and knowledge to further the objectives of the Society. Torry served on the executive of the George Pearkes Branch #56 Princeton Legion. He was a member of the Princeton Golf Club, enjoying his friends there, and always looking for that elusive ‘hole in one’. <br>Torry was a loving, caring husband. He was a mentor, teacher and hero to his children, wonderful brother and the greatest storyteller and a very proud grandfather. <br>He leaves behind to celebrate his life his wife Lois, daughters Kim and Lori (Tim), sons Dan (Jenny) and Curtis, grandchildren Laurissa, Cole, Benjamin, CeeYan, and Renan. Also his loving sisters Patricia, Geraldine (Fraser), and Kelly (Brian). He was a friend and mentor to his nieces and nephews and grandnieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by brother-in-law Bob, and sisters-in-law Doreen (Merv) and Jeanette. <br>Torry was an honourable man who “Did fill those shoes” and “Did wear those hats” with love and dignity. <br>‘At Ease Mountie’ <br>Lois and family would like to thank all their relatives and friends for their kind words of comfort and help through this difficult time. He is also survived by his brother Eddy Nishida of Lethbridge and sisters Marion Nelson of Edmonton and Katie Kamitomo of Raymond. <br>Walter was predeceased by his wife Miyo in 2008, son Tim in 2003 and brother Tak in 2009. <br>Walter was born on January 1, 1925 at Woodfibre, B.C. As a young man he loved to play baseball and practiced Judo. He was sent to an internment camp at Kaslo, B.C. in 1942, and after WWII arrived in Raymond to work on a sugar beet farm. <br>In early 1950, Walter worked as a painter in Southern Alberta and was the Art Director at CJLH TV in Lethbridge until he opened up Wally Signs in Medicine Hat, AB. While in Medicine Hat he provided for his family and developed his love for golf.  <br>Walter and Miyo were married on August 31, 1957. He moved his family back to Lethbridge in 1978 where he was a partner in A-Plus Signs and later opened up his own business, City Signs, where he worked until he was in his seventies. Walter spent his retirement years golfing, gardening and traveling. He worked hard all of his life to provide for his family.  <br>Walter was a man quick to dance or laugh despite his long struggle with Pemphigoid. He accomplished much in his life, including raising his 5 children, and was a commercial artist for more than 50 years. Ike lived all his life in the Sumas Prairie/Chilliwack area; the last 43 years spent in his Sardis home. <br>After a career in the forestry industry, Ike enjoyed a retirement, made up of fishing, boating, and reading. Ike particularly enjoyed travelling, both at home and abroad. He took many a road trip with his wife Mary. While on a tour of BC/Alberta, Ike took ill in Rocky Mountain House, Alberta. With his wife and children at his side, Ike peacefully passed away on August 28th, 2010. <br>Ike is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary, his daughter Charlene, his son Stephen, and his youngest sister Judy Short. Her life was devoted to her family and her faith. Prayers will be held on Friday, August 27, 2010 at 6 P.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 8909 Mary St., Chilliwack. He was born in Chilliwack, B.C. on August 27th, 1930. <br>Jim will be remembered by his loving family, his wife Dorothy Griffin (married for 58 years), his daughter Teresa Scott and husband Robert, his son Leonard Griffin and wife Myrna, his daughter Trudy Coates and husband Robert.  He has  6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
