Patricia, Pat, Patsy moved with her family Peter and Elsie Peebles and siblings to Francois during the depression years. She started grade one, boarding at the Cassidy\'s at Colleymount, then the Vandaveens at Tintagel, home to Francois Lake and then to Burns Lake. She grew up riding horseback, playing her guitar, singing, skiing, milking cows and cooking. She worked in Burns Lake, married Charlie Nourse in 1948. They soon moved to the Nourse homestead at Nourse/Tom Allin Creek referred to as \"The Ranch.\" There they had a market garden, Charlie was in the logging industry, there was a family milk cow, a dog, cats, chickens and two children Ron and Rita. Charlie joined the forrest service in 1957 and Pat became an expert mover & packer as they moved back to two mile near Burns Lake, Telkwa, Pendleton Bay Babine, Burns Lake about 1964 and Pat became the care taker of Matt and Ina Nourse and later her own parents Pete and Elsie Peebles. With Charlie retired from the forestry and a house fire in 1971 they built a retirement home back at the ranch on Francois Lake.
Through all these years Pat sang a million songs, was snow queen for the Omineca Ski Club, drove a million miles to visit family, friends, secure music lessons, attend gymkhana\'s, horse shows, fishing trips to near by lakes and rivers, complete with picnic lunches. She enjoyed all flowers and always had a fresh arrangement in the house. A special remembrance to the Prairie Crocus and Tiger Lilies of the prairies and our own Lady Slippers (Calypsos), Wild Violets, False Solomen Seal and Purple Asters.
She decorated wedding cakes for family and friends and was an avid baker, canner and maker of wonderful perfect jams and jellies. Pat won many prizes at the local fall fair. Lorraine was blessed with a beautiful singing voice and was greatly appreciated in the church, school and community choirs.
It was the winter of 1950 – spring of 1951 that Lorraine chose to go to bible school at the Bethel Bible Institute in Abbotsford. This is where she met her husband Harvey. They were later married on October 21st, 1951 in Oliver.
As a newlywed couple they moved to Grassy Plains along with her parents. Lorraine’s father was instrumental in planting a church in Tatalrose where both Lorraine and Harvey played an active role in the children’s ministry and teaching Sunday school. During those 16 years she, along with her husband, fellowshipped at the 1st Mennonite church where she was very active in the ladies sewing circle, sewing blankets that benefited many of the world’s needy. Lorraine took great pleasure in this.
Upon Harvey’s retirement she enjoyed the blessing of travel, visiting family, camping with family and friends and living life to its fullest.
Lorraine also loved bowling and spent 10 years trying for the sweet spot and loved it when all the pins went down! “Good shot sweetheart!”
After fighting her cancer for nearly two years Lorraine left this earth in the early morning hours of June 28th, 2010 at 1:20 a.m., with her husband, Harvey, daughters, Diane and Gail, and son-in-law Mark by her side.

MCCREA MULLEN, EVANGELINE Saturday, 19 Jun 2010

Burns Lake Lakes District News Burns Lake, BC

 July 23, 1912 - June 19, 2010
98 YEARS - WHAT A RIDE
From horse and buggies, crank telephones and kerosene lanterns, to space travel, call phones and GPS. Hiebert was born on February 4, 1938 to Jacob and Katherina (Guenther) Hiebert in Olser, Saskatchewan. He was raised on a farm near Neuanlage, and attended Pembroke School. He gave his life to Jesus when he was 19 years old and was baptized at Neuanlage Grace Mennonite Church. He married Margaretha Fehr on October 20, 1961. Cornelius and Marge farmed near Osler, SK where they raised their 3 children. Their lives were filled with church activities, family, friends, music, yearly vacations and fishing trips. Cornelius was a hard worker but loved to make time for family activities. Even in the demanding days of summer, he often found time to hook up the boat and head to the lake to go water skiing with the family. Cornelius had 3 main passions in life; God, family, & farming. These he pursued with all his strength. He had a fierce commitment to Christ that helped him navigate life, and fight the good fight of faith. He led his family to know Christ - this is his greatest accomplishment.
Cornelius was one of the most persistent, determined people on the face of the earth. Undaunted by setbacks, he would simply make a new plan and start again. However, in 2002 Cornelius began experiencing the affects of vascular disease. Multiple smal strokes began affecting his ability to manage daily activities. Life as our family had once known it would never be the same. Cornelius passed away suddenly into eternity on May 29, 2010 with family by his side. Cornelius leaves his beloved wife Marge, his 3 children Gail (Terrence), Murry (Deborah), Tamara (Johnny), and 9 beautiful grandchildrent (Jaden, Joshua, Gracie Janzen; Madison, Riley, Lauren Bueckert; Ellie, Emma, and Eden Hiebert) and one more on the way.
