The Silverdale resident was 71. <br>Dennis was born on May 31, 1938 to Harry and Mabel (Aea) Chu and raised in Honolulu. <br>Dennis was a longtime electrician with Johnson Controls and EJB at Bangor and Keyport military bases. His hobbies consisted of slot car, go-cart, drag car and motorcycle racing. His loves were to rebuild cars, fishing, crabbing, camping and his other love of playing the slot machines at the casino. <br>Dennis is survived by his wife Valerie; sons, Darren (Nancy) and Dwayne (Lisa); daughters, Denise (Darrick), Denette (Tim), Desiree (Esmeraldo); and Hanai (raised) children, Ryan (Patty), Gary (Shannon) and Deidra (Josh). He was a wonderful and loving grandfather to 17 grandchildren and blessed to be a great-grandfather to one great-grandchild. <br>Dennis’ heart was truly devoted to caring, helping and loving all of his family and friends. <br>A funeral mass for Dennis was held at 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 4215 Pine Road NE in Bremerton. She was 43 years old. <br>Elaine was born in El Centro, Calif. on March 2, 1966 to Lucinda and Jerome Capers. Elaine, her mother, father and two brothers moved to the Philippines shortly after she was born. Her father served in the U.S. Navy there. A few years later, they moved back to California, where Elaine enjoyed all things water, from surf camp to studying marine life in tidal pools. <br>Her mom and brothers were very musical, but Elaine inherited her dad’s tin ear, and finally gave up on a musical career. Instead, Elaine became a serious ballet dancer. In high school, she was invited to audition for the San Francisco Ballet. But Elaine realized a ballet dancer’s career is quite short and intense, and would not leave any room for anything else in her life. So she gave up ballet. <br>Instead, she got a Bachelor of Arts degree from San Francisco State University in geography, and worked at Nordstrom as a buyer to help put herself through school. She then worked for the Environmental Defense Fund. <br>In 1994, her son Nicholas was born. He was the joy and pride of her life, and she loved attending his track meets, teaching him to drive and just spending time with him. <br>In 2004, she and Nicholas moved to Fox Island with her parents, and Elaine joined the Kitsap County Consolidated Housing Authority, as part of the team dedicated to revitalizing Bremerton. Elaine believed in Bremerton, and was delighted to see new businesses, residents and life begin to return there as a result of the renewal efforts. She earned a Certificate in Community Development from the University of Washington in 2009. <br>For fun, she played volleyball at the YMCA, and she loved fashion and enjoyed helping fashion-challenged friends put together their wardrobes. Elaine was one of those people who could make you think you were the most important person in the room, and when she smiled, everybody smiled with her. <br>Elaine is survived by her son and her parents, all of Fox Island; brothers Eric Capers of Weston, Fla. and Jerome Capers II of Johannesburg, Mich. and their families. She will be missed by her maternal and paternal grandmothers, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, a college fund at Wells Fargo Bank has been established for Elaine’s son Nicholas Capers. His great heart gave out on him, while dressed in the famous, cozy green hospital scrubs which he, laughingly, wore everywhere. <br>He was the first-born son of Samuel Terry Goad and Rose Kelley Goad; husband of nearly 38 years (June 19) to college sweetheart, Carolyn (Waldeck); father of Matt, Jenny, Chris, and Katie. Bob was born in St. Paul, Minn. where his mother, Rose, was born and raised. <br>This was a man who was dedicated to the ideals of home, country and God. He distinguished himself highly in his military, medical and, most importantly, family careers. Service for helping others and living up to highly ethical ideals of morality and justice were integral to all aspects of his life. His lighter side was seen in his eclectic love of books, comics, music and films of all genres. We all must grow older, but we never have to grow up. Movies \"King Kong\" and \"Creature of the Black Lagoon\" were very special to him.  <br>Bob attended Benilde High School in  St. Louis Park, Minn. and Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. from 1965 to 1973 for both his undergraduate (BSC) degree and medical school. His medical internship was done at the old Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, ’73-’74. He was accepted for a two-year residency in anesthesia and a one-year fellowship in hyperbaric medicine at Duke University in Durham, N.C. from 1982 to 1985. <br>Upon graduation from medical school, he was commissioned an officer in the U.S. Navy Medical Corps where he served for 24 years, rising quickly through the ranks before retiring as a Captain (06) in 1994. His training began in Groton, Cont. at the Naval Undersea Medical Institute (NUMI) which led to him becoming an expert in diving/submarine medicine. He was the recipient of the Surgeon General\'s award there. He served in San Diego as the Designated Saturation Diving Medicial Officer Deep Diving Systems,COMSUBDEVGRUONE. From 1978 to 1982, he served as the U.S. Navy Exchange Officer in Underwater Medicine to the Royal Navy at the Institute of Naval Medicine in Alverstoke, England. That led to his appointment as chief medical officer for Commander, Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii from 1986 to 1990. Bob\'s final tour in the Navy was as the director for Operational Medicine, Naval Hospital, Bremerton from 1990 to 1994. <br>He began a full-time career in anesthesia from 1994 to 2009 at Mason General Hospital (where he co-owned the business) and part-time at a local oral surgery/implant clinic. He saved many lives due to his focused attention to details in the operating room and was rated as a top anesthesiologist.  <br>Bob\'s love of diving and the mysterious beauty of the ocean were very important to him, stemming from his Navy experiences. He was a renowned expert in the treatment of the \"bends,\" working with the Diving Accident Network and the Underwater/Hyperbaric Medical Society. <br>Comedian, jokester and prankster extraordinaire were what Bob had always been. Ever-thoughtful, no friend or relative\'s birthday or anniversary that he knew went by without a greeting card. Two were waiting to be mailed when he passed. <br>Recently, he had become involved with the \"Prisoners of the Far East WWII Memorial\" project which is striving to raise money to erect a monument in Bremerton to these brave soldiers and civilians.  <br>In addition to his nuclear family, Bob leaves behind his father, Samuel Terry; sisters, Carolyn and Maryann (John Merideth); brother, John (Jean); in-laws; cousins; nephews; nieces; aunts; and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose. <br>The Mass of Christian Burial is at noon Friday, June 12 at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 1310 Madison Ave. NE on Bainbridge Island. A reception will follow at the church in Conger Hall. The Port Orchard resident was 43. <br>He was born on July 24, 1965. He was the owner and incredible baker of Luigi\'s Baking in Bremerton. He was a true Renaissance man. His passion and enthusiasm for baking, gardening, cooking, soap making, writing, art and community involvement was evident in the depth and breadth of his knowledge and his commitment to sharing that knowledge with others. He was a student of life and a teacher of love. <br>Survivors include his wife, Stacy \"Amber\" R. She graduated from Central Washington University in 1985 and from Seattle Pacific University in 1989 with her master\'s in education. <br>Marnie worked for 15 years as a teacher at Silverdale Elementary School, retiring in 2001. She also worked at J.C. Penney for 20 years and at Central Kitsap Junior High School\'s library for eight years. <br>Marnie enjoyed her grandkids, books, stamping, crafts, hunting golf balls, travel with Mike and keeping in touch with extended family and friends. She liked spending time in Cathedral City, baking and making raspberry jam. She was a member of the Harrison Hospital Foundation, Children\'s Hospital in Seattle and the Quilt Guild.  <br>Survivors include her husband Mike, son William (Kathy) Lougheed and daughters Michelle and Wendy Lougheed, all of Port Orchard; mother Lillian McLarry of Port Orchard; grandchildren Zachary and Kelley Vanchiere and James and Erik Lougheed; sister Gail Hashagen of Sammamish; nephews Ryan Hashagen of Bellingham and Troy (Marta) Hashagen of Tacoma. The Bremerton resident was 84. <br>He was born in Yoncalla, Ore., an only child of William and Maude Gross. He graduated from Yoncalla High School in 1942 and soon after moved to Bremerton to start an electrician apprentice program at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard (PSNS). During this time, Bill also served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. Finishing military service, he returned to work at PSNS for the next 36 years, retiring as an electrical supervisory equipment specialist. <br>Bill met and fell in love with Lorraine Shelly of Bremerton and they were married in 1948. They enjoyed spending time at “the lake” and later traveling in their RV. When at home, Bill was always watching sports on his big screen TV. <br>He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lorraine; their three children Julie Ann (Ray) Danielson of Silverdale, Bill (Rise) Gross of Poulsbo and Roger Gross of Sequim; four grandchildren Will (Marie) Gross of Port Orchard, Christina Gross of Poulsbo, Matthew Gross of Poulsbo and Michael Gross who is presently serving a mission in Phoenix for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; two great-grandchildren Isabella Gross and Wil (Liam) Gross of Port Orchard. <br>He truly exemplified all of the values of the greatest generation. His word was his bond. If he said it, it was done. He will be truly missed. <br>A private graveside will be held. Foote in Hastings, Mich. on Aug. 25, 1975. <br>Patricia graduated from Stadium High School in Tacoma in 1958 and received an associate’s degree in child development from Grand Valley State College in Grand Rapids, Mich. in 1981. She worked as a child care administrator in various places until her retirement in 2000. She was a devoted naval officer\'s wife from 1975 until 1996. She is a past member of Kiwanis of Bremerton and the Presbyterian Church; past president of ROWA and member and past Grand Ya-Ya of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood.  <br>Patricia enjoyed knitting and sewing. She was an avid reader and master gardner, but mostly a loving wife and guardian angel.  <br>She is survived by her loving husband David; sons John (Kate) Johnson Jr. of Temecula, Calif., Cash (Natalie) Smallwood of Pasco, Christopher (Cristy) Foote of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Matthew Foote of Phoenix, Ariz.; daughters Eve (Mark) Brothers of Hartland, Wis., Janet (Carter) Crandall of Hertford, N.C.; brothers Mike and Danny Ryan of Port Orchard and Tom Ryan of Puyallup; sisters Cathie Locicero of New Mexico, Lura (Larry) Sheahan of Steilacoom and Shauna Peterson of Tacoma; grandchildren Brynn and Narina Brothers, Taylor Johnson, Connor Crandall, Haley and Tegan Smallwood and Gillian Foote. <br>A celebration of life is at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12 at Rill’s Life Tribute Center in Port Orchard. Memorial donations may be made in her name to United Way or a favorite charity. Goody of Bremerton died from an accident Sept. 13, 2006. The retired grocery store manager and steel guitar player was 76. <br>Mr. Goody spent 41 years in the grocery business, working at Uddenberg’s Thriftway, Red Apple, Gary’s Family Grocery, Tradewell and Safeway. In his spare time he played the steel guitar for a number of county western bands throughout Washington. He was a life member of American Federation of Musicians Local 76 in Seattle. <br>Mr. Goody was born March 5, 1930 in Bellingham to Fred and Mildren (Bates) Goody. He graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1948 and shortly afterward joined the U.S. Air Force, rising to the rank of staff sergeant before getting out of the service in 1952. <br>He married Jeannie Gilman on Oct. 1, 1980, in Stateline, Nev. She preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by: daughter Teresa Goody of Aberdeen; stepson Dan Shown of Allyn; stepdaughter Teresa (Bob) Case of Poulsbo; grandchildren Cheryl, Heather, Aaron, Rob and Lisa; and friends Ernie Blind and Patricia Sutton. <br>A visitation service was noon on Friday, Sept. 22, at Lewis Funeral Chapel, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. Burial tookplace at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Arrangements by Lewis Funeral Chapel. The Poulsbo resident was 75. <br>Mrs. Meiser was born on April 9, 1931, in Chicago to Mary (Kerkoch) and Ignatius Zavadiov. She married Richard “Dick” Meiser, her husband of 54 years, on Nov. 3, 1951, in Chicago. <br>Mrs. Meiser worked at a real estate agent for JRO and Spot Realty. She was a meticulous house and groundskeeper who enjoyed entertaining friends and family at her home on the Hood Canal. <br>Mrs. Meiser is survived by her husband of the family home; son Gary (Sharon) Meiser of Bainbridge Island; daughters Barbara (Ed) Pearson of Gig Harbor; Janet (Chris) Blasquez of Falmouth, Maine, and Amy (Bob) Becken of Allyn; grandchildren Jessica, Adam, Ryan, Kate, Alex and Zachary; and brothers Ed (Barbara) Zavadlov of Bremerton and Dave (Carol) Zaval of Arlington Heights, Ill. <br>A funeral service was April 26, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Bremerton.
